I have had this printer for a year now. I did not buy it for a primary printer as much as I did for it’s all in one capability and a printer capable of printing small paper sizes for check endorsements and deposit slips.

I am not at all impressed with the capacity of the cartridges. First of all, the machine ships with “Starter Cartridges” that only have about 1/2 or 1/3 the capacity of a standard cartridge. Standard color is 1500 pages and B&W is 2300 pages. Starter Cartridges are claimed to have 800 page capacity for color and B&W. Secondly, the starter cartridges do not even have the stated capacity of 800 pages at 5% coverage as they claim (see footnote). After just 240 B&W page prints (as indicated by the counter) The toner low warning is on. In this case I can determine most of what I have printed by just counting the number of checks endorsed and deposit slips printed. The print jobs have 81 & 67 characters respectively. Of the 240 print jobs 182 were checks or deposit slips so the remaining 58 were faxes or the occasional copy job. Assuming that the remaining 58 documents fell into the normal 5 % range, that is only a total of about 72 documents at a 5% coverage rate. Even if the color page print count of 178 is included, (maybe some black is used to print color), that is still well below 800 pages. I have sent emails to Canon and they don’t think there is anything wrong with this so I can only conclude their toner capacity is over stated by about 80-90%.

I have the cn model which lacks the wi-fi feature. The first printer they sent me had either software or hardware problems, it would not work with the network. The second printer worked ok with the network but I was not impressed with the computer interface software. Most functions are not controllable from the computer and it is necessary to set function commands, like paper size and which tray to use, at the printer. As another review mentioned, after printing, it does have an annoying readjust mode that takes up to a minute and a half to complete before another print job can be accepted. In general I would give the printer on board software and the accompanying computer interface software a generious D-. As a network printer, due to the number of functions that need to be controlled at the printer I would give it a failing grade.

The copy and fax and scan functions work well and are consistent with what would be expected for machine suitable for a small office. It would be nice though if the faxes could be routed to a computer to save paper and toner. It would also be nice to have a scan resolution greater than 300 DPI.

The only good thing Canon has done right with this printer is to provide excellent access to the paper path. If a paper gets jammed, it is very easy to access any part of the path to facilitate its removal. I have 10 year old HP Laserjet 6P printer that is a great, reliable and inexpensive printer to operate. Unfortunately, once in a great while, in about 1 in ten paper jams, and it almost never jams, it is necessary to dismantle the printer to clear paper from the fuser assembly and takes over an hour.

Foot Note: Canon tech rep stated in an email, 5% coverage is equal to about 14 lines of text. The first 14 lines of this review has 1279 characters. My 181 endorsment and deposit slip documents have a total of 14560 characters. That would equal about 12 documents at 5% using the tech reps coverage statement.

This projector packs a lot of punch, for multimedia presentations or film viewing. I mounted this on a ceiling and projected it against a flat white wall for a client on a budget, and it provided me with a huge amount of screen area and excellent clarity, even without a dedicated screen.

I was pleased with the array of inputs, though there’s only one of each, and for those of you planning large-scale presentations, the included wifi adapter is probably a great help. The projector comes in a nice carrying case, and fits universal mounts without much an issue.

The remote also operates from either the front or rear of the projector, which was a huge help in my particular installation.

We use 5 of these projectors and 7 of the 826w+ on our plant network. The Epson software finds the projectors without any trouble. We are able to project to up to 4 of these projectors simultaneously from a single computer. This really helps us when trying to present in multiple rooms or very large rooms. It would be nice to project to more than 4, but it is a limit of the software.

Video doesn’t always stream fast enough to be in sync with the audio from the computer/laptop. That’s the nature of playing video over the network. However, we use this projector to demonstrate CAD drawings, Visio drawings, and large Excel Spreadsheets without any trouble. PowerPoint (as expected) works great too. The widescreen format is very nice to have.

I highly recommend these projectors for networked installations. Configuration is easy. These projectors have now become our standard across the plant.

Easy to set up. Able to connect to 2 laptops at same time using 2 included cables. Picture bright and easily adjusted. Having carrying case and remote controller also a plus. Ability to use a USB memory stick directly also a plus although still limited to projecting jpeg or similar pictures. I bought this to replace our fax machine and get ALL the paper off my desk. I love it! It cannot scan a thick stack of pages, but can take 20 pages without grabbing two at a time. The Paperport software that comes with it is easy to use and has made life much easier. I was a very cheap scanner compared to the others I looked at – but I haven’t had any issues as all.

Awesome! I am happy with the projector, it has replaced my 60 incher that is now sitting in the corner. The picture quality is amazing, even with the lights on. Ive used it for hours while using my Xbox, and it stays the same temperature, and is quieter than the Xbox itself. From 12 feet away I have a 155in Screen. My place has become the place to watch everything at…BUY THIS IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT IT!

However, I was really impressed with a $2500 projector a friend had bought, but that was way out of my price bracket. I saw the Optoma GT700 and thought for $650 I would get a projector that was a quarter as good, but for the same price as a 50 inch plasma screen. How wrong I was! This projector is almost as good as the top of the range models and makes even the largest plasma and LCD screens look poor. Set up is easy, I was playing games and watching HD TV on a 12 foot wall within 20 minutes of opening the box. You are only restricted by the size of the wall you can project on. It works reasonably well in lit conditions, but really comes into its own in the dark, it's just like being in the cinema, but the snacks are cheaper! The only problem is that once you start watching TV on this you won't want to watch it on your tiny 52inch screen anymore.
